We were very honoured to get a preview of the forthcoming Robosapien movie, several weeks before the film had even hit American cinemas.
Robosapien: Rebooted was thoroughly enjoyed by Toby, aged eight. A well-crafted kids sci-fi adventure, it follows the story of Henry, a gifted but geeky schoolboy, and his discovery of a runaway robot. The Robosapien was developed as a search and rescue specialist, but sadly its remarkable powers are wanted by the military, leading its mild-mannered inventor to set it free. Now Henry's best pal, and dubbed Cody, the vivacious metal munchkin wiggles into his family's affection before the duo are forced to bring down the company and its evil ways.
It's a familiar tale, enlivened with slick computer animation for the robot (which may explain the five year gap between filming and release), with all the elements present and correct: hassled single mum who gets the guy, annoying big sister who turns out good, school bullies who get their comeuppance and villains who are comprehensively bested.
A great family watch.
