Jigsaws and books tend to be the toys or activities that parents appreciate most. The ABC Midi Floor Puzzle is a lovely classic wooden 28 piece puzzle which is an ideal introduction to phonics and singing the alphabet.
Illustrations depict each letter with well-chosen images that include lots of animals, an igloo and an x-ray. The only image that stumped my three year-old was the yo-yo or as he called it, "that ball with a lead".
Toby is three and a half; he and I have really enjoyed playing with this puzzle together. It has encouraged his natural interest in recognising letters without being overly educational. The jigsaw pieces are chunky and the complete puzzle is a satisfyingly generous 490 x 300mm.

What a good puzzle - lovely solid wooden pieces which might survive the enthusiastic hands of several three year-olds!
Educational as well as entertaining with an interesting subject matter - My Body - to provoke lots of new words and learning about new things and just tricky enough to be involving, thanks to the dominance of skin-coloured pieces!
