We are like Birds by Laila Ekboir

We are like Birds is a stunning new picture book about family, friendship, identity and resilience by Laila Ekboir, an Argentinian illustrator.

Flor is only seven years old but has already has moved home three times. Now her family is moving again and she has to start all over again in a new country and a new school. Flor worries about how she will fit in, make new friends and find the confidence to answer a question in class all the time as her family identifies their lifestyle with birds, snails, crabs, the moon, dandelion seeds

A beautiful, lyrical picture book about moving home, finding new friends and a sense of belonging in a new culture. The perfect, uplifting story for any child who feels like they don’t fit in or who is worried about the prospect of moving country, home or school and having to start over.

The subject is so pertinent these days with lack of rental housing security.

I love this book and look forward to reading it over and over again to my grandchild.
