LastRound

I was so impressed with LastTissue and LastSwab that I was ready to love LastRound, the reusable make-up pads.

Like most people I've been guilty of stocking up with  regular cotton rounds which are made of non-organic cotton that uses vast amounts of chemicals, pesticides, and fertilisers. Chemicals are used to bleach them and turn them into smooth compact cotton rounds.

According to World Wildlife Fund (WWF), cotton production is the largest user of water among all agricultural commodities. It takes 2640 gallons (10.000 litres) of clean drinking water to produce 1000 regular cotton rounds. That's a sobering thought so anything that reduces this has to be a winner for me.

LastRound is the newest addition in the line of sustainable swaps created by Danish eco-entrepreneur Isabel Aagaard. These reusable makeup pads look and feel just like the disposable kind but are made from 100 per cent renewable raw materials.

One LastRound can replace 1000 single-use cotton rounds and save 10,000 litres of water.

The rounds come in an eco-friendly dispenser that can be cleansed with soap and water.

To use: remove a pad and moisten with water or lotion you are using and cleanse as usual. When you've finished you just wash the pad with soap and water, squeeze out excess moisture and leave to air dry before returning to the bottom of the dispenser.

Brilliant way to live in a more sustainable way.
