Theia and I loved every bit of this product. The premise is very simple – paint your picture, apply fluffy paint and decorate with accessories. The results were great!
Using the fluffy paints is essentially like using piping bags. It takes a little time to master the techniques but there is good advice in the guide and increasing difficulty levels for the pros. At the beginning,
Theia just used whichever tip she wanted to act as glue for the decorations or to fill in a space with the right colour. But soon she was creating stars and swirls and changing the tips to blend the different paint colours.
As with its sister products, the packaging for Art Lab Fluffy Paint Studio is very attractive and the colour choices for the paints and accessories blend beautifully. I don't think it would be possible to create a picture that didn't look aesthetically pleasing with such combinations of their pink, yellow, turquoise and purple which is always comforting for younger painters like Theia (aged six).
The paint studio is brilliantly set up - there is a space for everything (which I put in bold because often such toy organisers require one item to be left aside or maybe the humble paintbrush isn't considered – here, nothing has been forgotten!)
It is also very easy to assemble the base frame of the studio if, like me, you open the package upside down! The parts just slot into each other. The white water holder has grooves to help let any excess water drain off the paintbrush as you slide it through – very thoughtful. Theia had a lot of fun putting all the decorative pieces into their little places.
This pack comes with a selection of already designed cards and plain cards, both in two different sizes. Theia loved that the pre-designed cards were all made up of kawaii drawings with cute eyes and themes such as a cake shop or ice cream parlour which allow for the studio to act as such places – a great idea. The accessories make for excellent sprinkles!
The fluffy paint takes about two hours to dry and was easy to scrap off any areas where they weren't wanted.
A brilliant arty product, perfect for birthday presents or creative mornings at home.
