Orson at Prezzos

We arrived at Prezzos in Letchworth at 5pm to a very quiet restaurant ready to disturb the peace with Orson (five years) and Edith (three years). We were greeted by a very friendly server and shown to a booth. There is a new children’s menu which differs depending on age bracket: Tiny for under twos; Little for two to eights; and Big for eight to 12s. We were given the Tiny options displayed on a nice large A3 menu, with some 3D glasses and a box of crayons for each of them.

The kids were very interested in the menu and although Edith struggled with the glasses, there was plenty of space for her to do some drawing.

The waitress took an order for drinks and gave us some time to decide on food. The children both picked the same starter and mains: Garlic Bread to start followed by Cheese and Tomato Pizza. All our starters arrived within ten minutes of placing the order which was great. The children drank Innocent Fruit Juice and a Juice Shot.

I had Pancetta Mac n Cheese Bites followed by the Meat Lovers Pizza, David had Calamari followed by the Rigatoni Arrabbiata – it was all lovely. We had a glass of wine each and as the kids were so content we enjoyed a coffee after the meal as well.

There was a QR code on the children’s menu that took them to a game where they had to dish out the correct pizza to the incoming customers. Orson enjoyed this and it amused him until his main was served, Edith is still a bit young and lost interest quickly asking to revert to some colouring.

The restaurant had filled up by 5:30 and there was a lively ambience. The staff were friendly and attentive, giving the children some fuss and attention.

What we thought was particularly good was the portion sizes for the children, they were just right, we often find them to be on the big side, but these were perfect and they both ate and finished all three courses. For pudding Orson had the Nutella Doughnuts which concluded with a smiley, satisfied tummy rub, and Edith chose to build her own Ice Cream Sundae. One criticism that I had was that next to the ice cream sundae options was a picture of a typical ice cream sundae in a glass with a flake, what Edith got was a scoop of ice cream in a small bowl… she made no complaints, but I would have been disappointed if I was her.

It wasn’t needed for us, but we did note that highchairs were available and there was plenty of room around the tables to negotiate a buggy, when we took the children to the bathroom we both checked and were surprised that there was no baby changing facilities but they were available in the disabled toilet on the ground floor.

Overall we all enjoyed our food very much, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, friendly attentive staff and menu choices to make us all happy! We will return!
