An upgraded version of a previous version which used AAA batteries, these phones are rechargeable via a three in one USB charger. fortunately they charge quickly as I'd forgotten to check before introducing them to three children at a summer party.
Specifications – the Walkie Talkie has:
- Eight channels and 99 secure passwords, allowing for the free setting of a "secret base" channel and allows children to team up across brands.
- Clearer voice effects and stable signals on upgraded version
- Hands-free facility through voice activation within
- Maximum distance of thee kilometres in open outdoor spaces
The phones are small and lightweight – perfect for little hands (and not too tiny when the adults used them). There's a built in flash light, bright LCD display, call function, ringtone selection, equipped with keyboard lock and comes with a lanyard.
The children – aged six, four and two – loved them and didn't want to give them up when they went home. Even the youngest got the hang of them. There was a bit of a discussion over who got which colour and we didn't test out the distance they worked at.
The walkie talkies are a great way to encourage social interaction and cooperative, imaginative play.
They made a fun addition to a party and would make a nice present.
