What joy – the iconic bear is back in Paddington's Finest Hour!
Echoing Mrs Bird, "I do like happy endings and those that leave the taste of marmalade in the mouth are the nicest of all." So it's wonderful to have a brand new adventure starring Paddington written by the inimitable Michael Bond.
What better way to comment on our own idiosyncrasies than through the eyes of a bear from Darkest Peru, he of hard stares – Paddington.
For a bear who seems to thrive on always finding himself in unusual situations, it is no surprise that in this new adventure he has a run-in with the police, appears in a TV cookery show, and gives one of his hard stares to a hypnotist.
The book is aimed at children aged seven plus but younger ones will love it too. Ideal for young readers who love "chapter books". It's a combination of old fashioned – references to the television set – reinforced by the superb illustrations and the "now" as in the huge popularity of cookery shows.
Perfect as a present – we loved it.
