The Recipe Bases come in a pot that you’re supposed to halve and use as two separate portions. I found it a bit fiddly/unnecessary and almost made me not want to use it – lazy I know, but if it were already separated I think I’d find it much more useable. It’s not really an issue if like me you have two children as you would be using it all in one go anyway. In this case though, as we were trying them out, I did split them into two just to try them with different recipes to see how different the taste could possibly be.

Herby Vegetable Pasta: the pasta stars in this got both kids excited. We tried this with the recipe on the package (Creamy Chicken and Sweetcorn) but they both hated it, I then used the second portion missing out the cream cheese and just adding in some tomatoes and they both loved it and ate every bit. I’d definitely get this one again as they really enjoyed it.

Each Paste Pot has enough in it to make three to five portions. Although these are designed to be cooked in one go, portioned out and the remaining portions be put in the fridge or freezer, I found that the pair of them were wanting extra and I "might" have had to have some too …yum!
One thing I would change about the Paste Pots is the fact that they come in a pack of two different flavours, this is great whilst you’re trying out new flavours with your child but not so great if only one flavour is liked which would then mean you would be essentially wasting a pot every time you buy them.
Mild Tikka & Mild Korma: both of these flavours were a big hit with my little ones, I used the recipes on the pack as a guide to create chicken and vegetable curries with whatever I had the fridge and cupboard.

Overall both children really enjoyed trying new flavours and things to eat, these Paste Pots are a great idea and I only wish I had them a year and a half ago when Scott was Alexa’s age and first became fussy! They’re ideal for parents in a rush and also for those that have a bit more time and want to create a meal from scratch full of flavour but without having to select and prepare all the herbs and spices themselves.
