Cosy Home was my third
Mahindra Homestay in India. I had been looking forward to
Jaipur (seen in
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and was not disappointed neither by the
city nor the welcome at
Cosy Home.
In fact
Cosy Home, situated in the environs of the
Pink City's Banni Park, is more of a
guest house than a
Homestay. You don't eat with the
family at meal times although the owner, Mr Mahesh Tikku, is present at
breakfast and dinner and his son prepares some of the excellent food.
Each
Homestay is unique and is
run independently so it is very much up to the owner what he offers within the
Homestay criteria. All the rooms at
Cosy Home have en suite facilities which includes a
shower. The rooms are a
good size and have a TV (not that I could find a news service in English!) and
air conditioning. You pay extra for
wi-fi access, and soft drinks and a
laundry service.
The service at
Cosy Home is excellent. Meal times are, within reason, when you want them and
dietary needs are easily taken into account – my "
no dairy" didn't present a problem.
Lunches and
dinners can be booked extra for about 300 rupees. I enjoyed the
food I had there and found the host very accommodating.
There is a lot of
garden space at
Cosy Home making it an ideal place to stay for
children to play in while you relax after some arduous
sight-seeing.
Jaipur is a very special city and I was very happy to spend three nights at
Cosy Home.
PWT rating: ♥♥♥♥♥Mahindra Homestays offer a unique and
cost-effective way to experience
India.
