Eight-year-old Heidi whose parents are dead lives with her beloved grandfather in the Swiss Alps. Her grandfather is keeps apart from the villagers but Heidi has her best friend Peter and her dog. A mother lynx and her cubs invade the village at the same time as a greedy businessman who wants to install a saw mill and rob them of their trees. But he needs one hundred per cent agreement and Heidi's grandad is adamantly oppose. He offers to rid the village of the lynx to get the residents on board and erects traps.
Heidi and Peter discover and rescue a lynx cub... and as she tries to return him to his family, she uncovers her grandfather’s hidden past and learns that true belonging means protecting both family and the wild places they call home.
