The
Attach-a-Tag Clothes Labelling System is an
innovative way of attaching
name labels to clothes. As a
mother of three I have in the past spen
t far too much of my very limited spare time
sewing labels into my children’s clothes. With my
middle child starting
secondary school in September and off to a
youth club camp over the summer holidays I was
eager to try this system.
You order
personalised plastic tags online and once these arrive you are ready to go. The
hand held applicator opens up and you place the
name tag into the head of the applicator, and the
locking retainer into the lower jaw. The
garment label slips between the
tag and the locking retainer and you
simply press together and twist the tab to secure them together. The
first attempt was a failure as the
two bits were firmly locked into their
respective places in the applicator. However, after
another attempt and a few more
twists of the tab, the label was
securely in place. After that I had
the hang of it and, as promised,
subsequent tags were applied in
seconds!
I had wondered if the
plastic tags would be an
irritation as they are
less discrete than a write on, or
sewn on label. However, they are
slim and
ergonomically designed and having applied tags to
clothes labels in a number of different
places, my daughter tells me that the
tags feel fine wherever located, although it did
chafe a bit at the neck with
tight fitting t-shirts. The tags are
wash proof to 100 degrees, can be
dry cleaned and
tumble dried and are
iron proof. They are also
pretty secure once applied.
This is a
great product, particularly if you have a
lot of name tags to apply, for example to
school uniforms. I would
definitely recommend this product but it should be
borne in mind that the tags are
not always practical for labelling neck labels which I always think is the
best place for name tags as it is so
quick and easy for children, parents and teachers to identify which child a
garment belongs to. Having said that,
slightly older children will soon learn to check
side labels when searching through the
lost property box for their mislaid clothes.
