Fancy a variation on a theme for a children's story? Then you can't go wrong with Goldilocks and the Three Crocodiles by Michael Rosen and illustrated by David Melling.
Goldilocks and her small, talking dog, Tiddles, are off on an adventure trying to rediscover that special house in the woods – you know the one with the three chairs, three bowls of porridge and three beds?
Off they go through the deep dark wood when the sound of the sea calls to them and they find ... a deep cave. Again there are three of everything but there is a difference: fish beds, bowls of seaweed and shells to sleep in. In fact after their long was the smallest shell is perfect for Goldilocks and Tiddles... until the owners of the cave return home.
This is a charming tale by the master storyteller, Michael Rosen with fabulous illustrations by David Melling. It's a book to pick up and read again and again with lots of fun to be had talking about what's in the pictures.
I have always enjoyed Rosen's books especially We Are Going on a Bear Hunt and his poetry books and I shall be looking out for more of Melling's books who has been shortlisted for many awards with his oeuvre of over 150 books!
An ideal present to grace the shelves of a small person's bedroom. Rosen and Melling make a perfect creative pairing in Goldilocks and the Three Crocodiles available online and from bookshops.
