This
country inn hotel looks the part and is situated right on the
High Street. If the thought of staying in a
pub makes you think of
noisy customers or traffic, rest assured. The
accommodation in in a
separate building at the rear of the pub.
The
Marquis of Granby has six
en suite rooms: two double, two twin and two
family rooms from £60 per night and this includes a
full English breakfast and TV and
tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
We had a
family room with a double and single bed plus a
travel cot for Harriet. The
bathroom was a nice size but only had a
shower which was fine for the adults but
not so good for Harriet. The room was
clean and
comfortable.
We were asked what time we would like
breakfast and when I said 8.00, Tony, the
landlord looked
unhappy and said that the other
guests had booked for 9.30! Made me wish I'd got in first to see theri faces! Anyway we
compromised on 8.30 – Harriet (and I) just wouldn't have been
happy waiting longer.
The
breakfast was
freshly cooked and the mushrooms were particularly nice – there was
juice and a
choice of cereals to start plus plenty of
tea and coffee. And
no one batted an eyelid when Harriet
made a mess!
The
restaurant serves meals at
lunch and
dinner times plus there are bar snacks for a lighter meal.

do not use the internet booking site as this was showing the hotel as
fully booked when it clearly wasn't when I tried.
