Some delightful picture books which captivated my attention from my review pile:  My First Draw with Rob: Unicorns and Frida the Rock-and-Roll Moth plus to new edition of old favourites: How to catch a Star and Cars and Trucks and Things that Go.

My First Draw With Rob UnicornsEver wanted to draw a unicorn? Of course you have and Rob Biddulph is just the man to show you – and your young artist – how to do it. Rob's Draw With Rob videos went viral during the pandemic making him a household name in the young art world.

My First Draw with Rob: Unicorns (HarperCollins Children's Bookks) begins with  some colouring in and then matching unicorns Rainbow, Ali, Pop Pop and Kitty to their feet. Turn the page and the serious work begins. Rob gives step by step instructions on how to draw each of the unicorn friends with pages of other activities interspersed so young artists don;t lose interest.

There are easy to tear out ages so you can exhibit the artist's work and at the end of the book there's a certificate too!

Great fun and perfect for children aged three plus.

Frida the rock and roll mothFrida the Rock-and-Roll Moth by Kim Hillyard (Ladybird) encourages young children to find the confidence to be themselves. Frida is always comparing herself to others and when she finds other rock-and-roll moths she feels to shy, too small...She wishes she was brighter, better, more like them. She tries changing everything about herself but nothing works until – well you'll have to read the book to find out!

A heartwarming story to inspire and empower your readers from and award-winning author which bears reading over and over again.

And now for the two old favourites: the 20th anniversary edition of How to Catch a Star, the début by the amazingly talented Oliver Jeffers and the 50th anniversary edition of Cars and Trucks and Things that Go the beloved classic from Richard Scarry bot published by HarperCollins Children's Books.
