Never having succumbed to the joys of camping – Girl Guides and one disastrous family holiday when I was 11 put an end to that – I wasn't really au fait with sleep mats although Olivia used then on her Duke of Edinburgh camps.
However as we no longer have a guest room, I was looking for something that could be stored easily but could be used at any time. The Vango Adventure Sleepmat fits the bill. It weighs in at 3.69 kg and is a good double size, but rolls up to a convenient 76 by 29cms to store in its stuffsac.
At 5cms, the depth probably wouldn't suit anyone older or with mobility problems but I also found it could be folded as a single which was even more comfortable.
