Anyone who enjoys a game of
Scrabble will be delighted with the latest game from
Gibsons: Word for Word. Aimed anyone over eight, the game was a great success with
seven year old Toby. He soon got the idea of
changing words with one letter or more and I think it's an
excellent way of helping children
broaden their vocabulary and think laterally.
The
game contains 99
wooden tiles, a cloth bag,
sand timer and rules.
Word for Word is a game which can be played with
two to six players. I imagine
Word for Word could become quite addictive and
great fun for families and groups of friends. Don't think
adults will necessarily win – it's amazing how your
mind can go
blank when faced with the
30 second rule! Each
letter tile has a value from
A=9 to Z=1 and the
object of the game is to reach and agreed
target.
The
rules are set out very
clearly and it's suggested that
younger players are given
60 seconds to make their word.
My only criticsm of
Word for Word is that the
letter values are not marked on the
tiles so you have to keep refering to the rules.
