It’s probably woman’s dream – to improve your posture and look better without having to fit in three visits to the gym or swimming pool every week!  Whatever stage your family is at there never seem to be enough hours in the day and most women cut down on so-called “me time” to satisfy family commitments.

But one exercise most of us do without thinking is walking. So how about a pair of shoes specifically designed to give you a work-out as you walk? Sounds too good to be true but Chung Shi comfort shoes have a built in “Pilates-system” which works by using a unique, patented reflexology bar in the centre of the shoe and a 15 degree curved sole.

These elements work together to lengthen the body into a tall, upright posture, encourage the use of neglected muscles and improve core stability. Even whilst standing still, the muscles continue working to gain a centre of balance, so just by wearing the shoes you can actually work your stomach muscles to help tone and strengthen without anyone knowing.

Chung Shi shoes look rather like ordinary trainers until you see the sole and when you first put them on, they do feel strange. It takes time to get used to walking in them, the temptation it to walk on your toes but you must walk from heel throught to toe. I noticed the immediate effects of a flatter tummy! While standing still you rest on the heel and thing immediately works the abdominal muscles.

You are recommended to wear the shoes for half an hour at first and then build up the time so you are wearing them as long and as often as possible.

I haven’t been wearing them long enough to notice any weight-loss but  they are really comfortable and anything that improves my core stability as I walk the dog or shop is fine by me!

Chung Shi shoes start at £129 in a range of men’s and women’s styles. For stockists ring 01675 430115 or log on to www.chung-shi.co.uk
