The BBC Proms is delighted to announce the new presenters and actors who will take to the Royal Albert Hall stage this Saturday 26 July and Sunday 27 July to present two special concerts with the BBC Philharmonic: Katy Ashworth – I Can Cook, Andy Day – Andy’s Wild Adventures, Cat Sandion – CBeebies, Bernard Cribbins and Salty the Dog – Old Jack’s Boat. They will join the already announced Ben Faulks as Mr Bloom; Steven Kynman as Robert the Robot; Gemma Hunt from Swashbuckle and Chris Jarvis from Show Me Show Me.
Encouraging learning through music, the BBC Proms with the help of some of CBeebies’ favourite presenters and characters will take the audience on a journey through London while exploring the sounds of the orchestra.
Music for the two morning Proms will include Barrie Bignold’s BBC Commission and World Premiere Around Sound; Holst’s St Paul’s Suite; and Wood’s Fanfare on British Sea Songs, performed by the BBC Philharmonic and conducted by Stephen Bell. And in a Proms first, Salty the dog will be the very first furry-friend to take part in a BBC Prom in the festival’s 120 year history.
Kay Benbow, Controller of CBeebies, says: "The first ever CBeebies Proms provide a wonderful opportunity for pre-school children to experience the spectacle of live orchestral music in the Royal Albert Hall, reinforced and brought to life by some of their favourite CBeebies characters and presenters. We very much hope it will inspire the next generation of classical music fans."
