The Asian Spa at the Fullerton Hotel, Singapore, was a truly wonderful experience. My teenage daughter, Olivia, and I planned our treatments for the evening so we could just pop back to our room and bed afterwards – no having to get dressed up again and go out into the world!
When you book at the Asian Spa the receptionist goes through the types of treatments available and the products used so everything is ready for you when you arrive. We both opted for the Head to Toe Pampering package which included a choice of body scrub, choice of massage and a classic or purifying facial.
The experience begins - and ends - with a cup of herbal tea in one of the candle-lit lounges. Our therapists arrived and introduced themselves and off we went to separate rooms (there’s a double treatment room for couples or friends).
The body scrub was great – however much you try you can never quite replicate the experience at home! – and this was followed by a shower, conveniently en suite, and then the massage. I had chosen the deep Indonesian massage which is particularly good for tension in the neck and shoulders and so it was. It did feel a bit strange with the therapist virtually climbing on top of me but if that’s what it takes...
The facial which followed was also deeply relaxing. Again you can go through all the stages of cleansing, exfoliation and moisturising at home but nothing beats a professional treatment and my skin felt fantastic afterwards.
One of the delights of the treatments was that the therapist only spoke to explain what she was doing, or to ask something otherwise there was just the gentle music in the background. Another plus was they don’t try to sell you any products. I can’t count the number of times this has happened and ruins what was a peaceful and relaxing experience.
The Head to Toe Pampering package I had took lasted two and a half hours and cost S$256.80 (about £100).
