If you have hard skin then try the best foot file I’ve used in ages – the Champneys Soft-Touch Smoothing Foot File. Use the coarse side first to remove hard skin and then the finer side to smooth away any rough and dry skin (do not use on inflamed or damaged skin).

There is also a smaller file concealed in the handle for hard to reach areas. The hard skin just fell away! And the angled handle makes it really easy to use.

Afterwards moisturise thoroughly. A really effective, basic cream to use (on other dry areas of the body as well) is Lotil – an old-fashioned cream  developed over 100 years ago. It  really does what it says on the jar: “helps soothe dry, chapped and sore skin”.

For a really intensive therapy, apply cream to feet, wrap in cling film, then pop on a pair of socks and leave on overnight. Personally I found my feet got too hot in bed, but you can follow the same procedure and leave on for as many hours as you can while at home – and not expecting visitors!
