Cosmetics have come a long way since they were used by the
ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans when many contained
dangerous ingredients.
Whitening the face was popular from the
1400s onwards when a mixture of
carbonate, hydroxide and lead oxide was comomonly used – leading sometimes to
muscle paralysis or death!
Zinc oxide replaced this mixture in the
1800s and then
Coco Chanel made having a
tan "de rigueur" in the 1920s.
We've come a
long way since then and
the newer mineral cosmetics are becoming increasingly
popular. The first one I used was a
powder base that gave me rather an
odd "set" look. However I was
keen to try the new
Liquid Mineral Foundation from
Inika. As the
foundation acts like a
moisturiser as well, it is great to
apply and the
matt finish is just what I'd
wish for. Even better it is
certified organic, not tested on animals and suitable for
vegans.Inika has aloe vera as a base (rather than water or oil) and is
95 per cent organic. It's
nourishing, packed with vitamins and
green tea as well as macademia nut oil, pomegranate oil and new ingredient
tomanu oil amongst many others.
At
£25 Inika Liquid Foundation is
competitively priced for a premium product and comes in
four shades available from www.inikacosmetics.co.uk
