Nadia Narain's Pregnancy Yoga DVD consists of three 20 minute yoga routines, one of which is specifically designed for women experiencing pelvic pain during pregnancy (although still perfectly well suited to those who are not). There are also a number of shorter segments with varying aims, including breathing techniques and relaxation.
The three 20-minute yoga sequences are suitable for all levels. Nadia's instructions throughout the routines are clear and I found that I was able to focus on my practice rather than constantly needing to look up at the TV. Nadia undertakes the yoga routines alongside a colleague who is in the later stages of pregnancy, which I found reassuring as well as motivating, particularly when I was finding some of the postures more challenging. The pace of the routines is good and allows for deep breathing, as well as a feeling of "flow" between postures.
I did not find the shorter segments on the DVD as useful, but may return to these as I approach labour and am perhaps more anxious about this part of the pregnancy.
Given the price and low availability of pregnancy yoga classes in the community, I would strongly recommend using a yoga DVD, such as Nadia's, to support fitness during pregnancy, and found Nadia's Pregnany Yoga to be accessible, appropriately focused and easy to follow.
With each routine lasting only 20 minutes, I found it easy to fit in during a busy day, as well as being able to combine two of the sections on days when I wanted to enjoy a longer routine.
