Whipsnade Zoo

Situated on the edge of the Buckinghamshire Chilterns, Whipsnade Zoo has a wealth of entertainment for the whole family. The beauty of this zoo is that it is spacious. The animals appear as content as they can be in an artificial environment. There are species of Mara and Wallaby that free roam. There is a bus that can take you on a tour and many shows throughout the day.

A steam train will take you through areas not accessible on foot or by car at an additional cost.

Whipsnade ZooThere are several places to eat and the Lookout café has superb views over the Chilterns. Various food huts are located throughout, but are only open at certain times of the year.

For children there is an indoor soft play area for tiny ones bored with the animals. There is also an outside play area and a children’s petting zoo.

Accessibility is described as reasonable by the zoo. There are areas that are rough ground. As a wheelchair user I would say you have good access around the zoo and you can hire a chair for £25.00. Assistance dogs are not permitted. Two kennels are provided for the duration of their stay.

Whipsnade Zoo is part of the Zoological Society London and is actively engaged in conservation work.

I felt you got value for money for a family day out and could easily spend more than a day there. Check the website for further details and activities in school holidays.
