Fifteen Animals by Sandra Boynton is a fun
board book which takes your child through one man's
selection of pets... all called Bob!
The
illustrations are quirky and
suit the style of the book, which is very much
tongue-in-cheek. As well as your
toddler being able to
identify the animals as you
read through,
older children also have the opportunity to
count all 15 animals.
Fifteen Animals comes with a
downloadable song - you just need to log on to the
Workman Books website to find a very enjoyable
musical version of the book. I think the
song went a little over my
one year old's head, as did the
humourous ending of the book where the
reader meets a
turtle who certainly isn't called Bob (I'll say no more), but I would imagine that this
humourous twist would be a real hit with children
aged two plus.
I would
certainly look at other books written by
Sandra Boynton, if only to see what
other surprises can be found!
