London's Big Read

On World Book Day - 7 March - a Readathon is be held at LIBRARY, a private members bar in London, in keeping with the theme of female empowerment, to celebrate the start of the online voting for London's BIG READ 2019.

Londoners are being called to action to vote for London's BIG READ of 2019. Organised by Heironmind Limited, and now in its second year, 14 books have been selected across fiction and non-fiction under a theme of female empowerment.

Londoners are invited to vote for their winner online at bigread.london from World Book Day through to 30 June. The winner, to be crowned "London's BIG READ 2019", will be announced at a gala fundraising dinner and celebration in September 2019.

The aim of London's BIG READ is to bring the Capital together through reading books that expand our understanding of our community and express the diversity of this great city.

A range of titles including poetry, middle grade and YA, have been selected to be part of London's BIG READ 2019.

The organisers behind London's BIG READ have teamed up with Transport For London (TFL), and the Booksellers Association to work with bricks and mortar bookshops across London and in the surrounding regions, the London Book Fair (12 to 14 March 2019), and some of the leading London universities, to raise awareness about the Finalists and the wider London's BIG READ campaign.

London's BIG READ 2019 is partnered with the Children's Literary Charity and Ndoro Children's Charity to raise money through myriad fundraising activities, culminating in a gala ceremony and charity auction in September 2019 at which the winner will be officially announced.
