The Wizard of Oz – A Scanimation Book by
Rufus Butler Seder abridges the original story made so famous when filmed with
Judy Garland as Dorothy into ten scenes, from
clicking red shoes to the journey down the
Yellow Brick Road. With a quote from a
character on the facing page and a sentence or two of
narrative, the plot fairly
gallops along.
However my
reservation is that someone has to
fill in the gaps – it is possible that
adults don't remember the
story that well – and that
The Wizard of Oz is for an
older age group while
Rufus Butler Seder's
Scanimation® version is for younger children.
That said
The Wizard of Oz – A Scanimation Book is beautifully produced by
Workman Publishing with a sparkling red front cover.
