Ballerina DVD

Harriet and I have watched Ballerina a few times now and, like any good film, you see new things each time you view. The films begins in a brutal orphanage in France.

Two young orphans dream of a far better life. Félicie (Elle Fanning) has only one passion – ballet and her pirouettes on the rooftops have you holding your breath. With her best friend Victor (Dane DeHaan), who aspires to be a great inventor, they come up with a madcap scheme to escape their orphanage and head to Paris where each can can fulfil their dreams.

Through cunning plans and hard work Félicie lands a spot at the top dance school, where she has to take on the school bully to win the starring role. And at the same time, Victor finds a lowly job where he too can hone his skills. It is his invention which eventually saves Félicie's life.

Some great characters like Odette (Carly Rae Jepsen) the former prima ballerina reduced to cleaning for her living and the scheming and evil mother or Félicie's snobby rival Camille Le Haut (Maddie Ziegle).

A great feel-good movie that will have your kids leap, bounding and pirouetting through the Easter holidays or perhaps have them working on a major invention!
